Crossroads Together is one of 3 organisations (see also Rural Community Services and Neuromuscular Centre) who provide a respite service as part of Cheshire West Carer Support Service. CarersTrust4all will provide home and community based one-to-one personal care for people with care needs. This allows unpaid carers to access a break from their caring role in the knowledge that the person they care for is being looked after to the highest standard. Our service is adaptable, flexible and responsive. Through our assessment process, we will work with Carers to determine their individual needs and offer appropriate respite. Carers can use their break for a variety of reasons; to access community activities, see friends and other family members or to have a rest, catch up on domestic chores or attend appointments etc. They can provide one-to-one personal care at home for the person with care needs for up to 12 weeks.
Carers who have previously accessed this service say: “This break supports me to attend to my own mental health and to return refreshed and better able to carry on with my caring role” “I felt isolated, I have been supported to access a break to take some time out from caring. I use the three hour break per week to go shopping, complete necessary errands or attend appointments” The CarersTrust4all vision is to ensure every Carer is recognised, supported and offered services to help maintain their own health and wellbeing.
This enables Carers to take a break and to find a balance between caring and looking after themselves, particularly if they have other commitments, such as family or a job.
