We have now been delivering the new Cheshire West Carer Support Service for just over a year. Comprising seven local voluntary sector organisations working together to support carers in Cheshire West and Chester with a shared recording and monitoring system. The surrounding facts and figures highlight some of the work from 2018 in supporting carers across the borough.

  • 3,500 carers have used at least one element of the new service
  • 5264 hours of free respite care have been provided
  • The average age of carers we support is 60
  • 238 Personal Budgets were awarded to carers enabling them to take a break
  • 1282 carers were identified by 41 GP surgeries
  • 80 Wellbeing sessions held allowing carers to focus on their own health
  • £800,000 of benefits have been claimed for carers through our Information and Advice sessions
  • More than 200 carers were supported to remain in employment
